show. The 2009 Show opens Wednesday, December 31, 2008 and runs through Sunday,
January 4, 2009.
This perennial showcase of the latest domestic and international cars, trucks,
crossover vehicles, sport utility vehicles, minivans and concept and specialty
vehicles is one of the primary means of stimulating automotive sales throughout
San Diego County.
The NCDA and its Dealer Members also support the San Diego community through
a variety of philanthropic programs and contributions. During the past several
years, the NCDA and its dealer members have provided millions of dollars of support
to underprivileged youth, children and young people with disabilities, domestically-abused
women and their children, military families, home-bound senior citizens and others
with special needs as a way of giving back to the San Diego community and its
citizens.
The NCDA also provides educational support for students in San Diego County seeking
careers in the automotive industry through the New Car Dealers Association of
San Diego Endowed Scholarship. A scholarship fund has been established at Northwood
University and provides monies to deserving San Diego students. For more than
40 years, Northwood University has prepared students for careers in automobile
distribution, sales, marketing, finance, management and service.
The NCDA also provides automotive sales training through the California Sales
Training Academy (CSTA). CSTA was established in 1991 to promote professionalism
in the retail automobile business through education. Emphasis is placed on product
knowledge, ethical behavior and customer service. During the four-day course of
instruction, adult students prepare themselves for an exciting and rewarding career
in the automobile industry.
CSTA is open to all San Diego residents at no charge, and all course materials
are provided. At the conclusion of the course, graduates receive a certificate
of completion and job placement assistance through the dealership referral program.
